As winter is well and truly underway (we have had the first snowfall, the first frost and of course the shops are in full festive swing) it is a reminder of how fast the academic year goes. I have been engrossed in my dissertation, which is on the colour pink, and it's place within the interior design spectrum. I love pink and think that it is a colour which is undervalued, mis-understood and in need of revival! I have seen it starting to show face in contemporary design schemes. It has taken an awful lot of research to investigate the beguiling history, scientific background, psychological effects and symbolism of this beautiful and creative colour. My final design project has been put on the sidelines whilst my 7000 words are completed. Alas, I feel that it is coming to a close as final sections are completed. I can now concentrate on my development property - a beautiful grade II listed barn near Timble in the stunning Fewston/ Swinsty area of the Washburn valley.
Christmas is a coming..and although I feel it emerges into our lives a little too early, I do love a nice Christmas window display, and all the bright sparkly lights which appear in towns, cities and gardens. A lovely way to bring warmth and light into the dark winter months. After all, that is where Christmas came from. The Egyptians brought flame and evergreen into their homes at this time of year to thank the gods for virtue and acknowledge the onset of the winter solstice. Try and enjoy the positives, the excitement, the traditions, the change in nature and often changes in our daily routines which this time of year brings. Happy Shopping! Don't forget to stop off for a gingerbread latte.
